how to apply – guidelines for writing a paper for the IFIR Focus

Here you find the formal prerequisites for an article to be published in IFIR Focus. Basic requirements for each submitted paper are that it was worked out independently and that the content refers to the discipline of International Relations.

If you have the intention to write a contribution for IFIR Focus we recommend to make contact with IFIR. Before commencing your article, we would appreciate to receive an abstract of your writing project. Afterwards a deadline until when the paper has to be finalized will be fixed. Contact is made directly by e-mail with an IFIR staff member.

 

papers for IFIR Focus

  • There are no thematic demands, only some formal prerequisites.
  • Each contribution has to be an essay that deals with current or past developments in International Relations.
  • The basic rules of scientific working have to be abided. All contributions will be proofread by IFIR. The length of the essay depends on the topic and the textual focus. 2,000 words can be regarded as reference value. Papers with concrete references to theories of social sciences are welcomed.
  • The mention of additional further readings and internet sources is desired.

 

book reviews

  • Reviews contain both traditional information sources such as monographs, omnibus volumes or periodicals and digital sources. Book review offers can be found in the menu under “Books”.
  • The basic rules of scientific working have to be abided here as well.

 

student research papers

  • This concerns seminar papers, diploma theses and dissertations in International Relations.
  • When submitting a student research paper we request to notify the grade received for it as well as when, where and at whom it was written.
